I can’t help but stan for these two.

God. I love how solid they are. To go through what they went through and to make it back to eachother. Ugh, and to know we won’t get anymore of them! Pain! I clearly need to go start rewatching the whole series to get my fix……
Yes. God(s), yes. I have talked about my undying love for the Doctors Graystone before, but their narrative is everything I want out of an established relationship, so I’ll never stop appreciating it. I know they spent half the series drifting apart, but it was necessary for their respective character development. I loved how Caprica did not make Amanda seem selfish from wanting time away from her husband. She needed that space. She deserves that space, and Daniel needed to fully process what he did instead of throwing his pain back into his work. I also think that is why losing Graystone Industries concurrently worked out beautifully. I always got the impression Daniel was one of those people who channel his emotions into his work, so by losing his company, he could not hide the fact he also lost Amanda temporarily.
Then darling Amanda. While her friendship with Clarice was obviously manipulation on Clarice’s part — that’s why I had the same WTF reaction as Daniel when Clarice confessed to loving Amanda in 1.17 Here Be Dragons. I did buy Clarice’s love for Amanda, but LOL stop acting betrayed when you came into Amanda’s life the way you did to get something out of her — she needed someone outside the family. I mean, we know little about the Graystone’s extended family (NGL I was surprised to learn Daniel’s mother was still alive; I always assumed his parents were dead., but I wholeheartedly believe Amanda needed someone not connected to the lush surroundings they build for themselves. mhm what am I trying to say anyway? I just love these kids, and it was necessary for them to grow apart for they could come together again.
From Caprica, I always got they were both highly emotional people, but they just connected it different, so by Daniel losing Amanda (though temporarily), it gave them the focus to do what they needed to do to heal. For Amanda, it was learning how Zoe got involved with the STO. For Daniel, it was learning and admitting his faults.
